At the shooting final - 10m air pistol women's Olympic 2024 event, Vietnam representative - shooter Trinh Thu Vinh competed to win 4th place overall.
The female athlete born in 2000 reached 198.6 points, 2.7 points less than her Indian opponent at the time of stopping. Up to now, Trinh Thu Vinh is the Vietnamese female shooter with the best achievements.
In an interview after the end of Trinh Thu Vinh's competition, Mr. Dang Ha Viet - Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports, Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 2024 Paris Olympics commented: "Today is competition day." Thu Vinh's excellence, although unfortunately this shooter could not surpass himself to win the medal.
However, through 2 rounds of competition (qualifying round and final) it has been shown that Thu Vinh has made progress, especially her psychology is quite stable, knowing how to adjust her mentality during competition.
The final round is very fierce, in addition to the first 2 shots (10 shots) to count cumulative points, there will be consecutive shots, every 2 shots count and one athlete is eliminated. This causes psychological problems for athletes. Therefore, our athletes need to practice and make more efforts to overcome emotions and overcome external influences to be able to compete well in the finals."
Director Dang Ha Viet added: "Regarding the medal target of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 2024 Olympics, we still have one more competition event for Thu Vinh. This is also her forte. Trinh Thu Vinh herself also made great efforts and great determination to find opportunities, potentially reaching the final to compete for medals.
Besides, we still have many events that we will continue to compete in such as weightlifting, rowing, cycling... Opportunities are still ahead for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation."
