Vietnam team sends key athletes to Asian tournament

The coaching staff of the Vietnam Golden Ball Team will check the performance of key players right at the 2025 Asian Championship to select forces to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.

The top 16 players of the Vietnam Golden Rooster Team will compete in the Asian Championship taking place in Malaysia from November 5.

"We will carefully test the expertise of the players from the tournament to select the best professional assurance person to continue participating in the 33rd SEA Games in December in Thailand.

The 2025 Asian Championship has positive professional value as many of the top players in Asia and Southeast Asia will participate, said coach Dang Xuan Vui of the Vietnam Golden Ball Team.

Among the 16 players participating in the 2025 Asian Championship, the Vietnam Golden Rooster Team continues to have a squad of players with high achievements at the recent 2025 Women's World Championship including Nguyen Thi Hien, Lai Thi Dung, Nguyen Thi Thi, Thach Thi Anh Lan, Kim Thi Thu Thao, Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu Trinh Thi Kim Thanh, Le Ngoc Nhu Y...

Last year, the Vietnamese iron ball team won a gold medal at the 2024 Asian Championship in the women's doubles event.

The iron ball has not been announced by the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee and will be officially competed in. Countries are waiting for the final decision between the parties, including the World Badminton Federation, to agree to let Thailand organize the badminton event at the Congress or not.

If the iron ball event takes place at the 33rd SEA Games, Vietnamese sports will participate.
