The match only lasted 60 minutes but was completely under the control of the Vietnam team. The Vietnamese girls competed confidently, coordinated smoothly and showed superior performance against opponents with many destinations from Thailand. This is the second time in history that the Vietnamese women's iron ball team has won the world championship.
Participating in this year's tournament, Vietnam has two participating teams. The Vietnam 1 team includes athletes Lan Anh, Thu Tao, Kim Than and Nguyen Thi Hien - the world champions in 2023. However, this year's championship belongs to Vietnam team 2 with four athletes: Le Ngoc Nhu Y, Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu, Nguyen Thi Thi and Lai Thi Dung, under the leadership of head coach Dang Xuan Vui (Hanoi).
Before entering the final match, Vietnam 2 had an impressive journey when overcoming many strong opponents. After a convincing group stage, they beat their home team Vietnam 1 in the quarter-finals with a score of 13-3, then continued to defeat the Belgian team 13-10 in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Thailand beat Cambodia 13-4 to qualify for the final.
Entering the final match, the Thai team clearly showed their determination to take revenge after the failure in the 2023 tournament. However, in the face of the excellent performance and reasonable tactics of the Vietnamese team, the representative of the land of the Golden Temple was completely helpless. After less than an hour of competition, Vietnam ended the final match with a 13-1 victory, thereby officially crowned the world champion in 2025.
This is a proud achievement, continuing to affirm the position of Vietnam's iron ball in the international arena. This victory is also a great source of motivation for the athletes, especially in the context of Thailand's efforts to bring the iron ball sport back to the competition program of the 33rd SEA Games.
