Right from the start of the match, Thailand took the initiative to attack. In the 4th minute, the home team attacked on the left wing, but two Thai players were offside. Throughout the first half, Thailand continuously created opportunities, notably Ekanit's header in the 23rd minute, but the ball went too soft, easily into the hands of the Lao goalkeeper.
A minute later, Thailand had a dangerous free kick on the right wing, but the Lao goalkeeper punched the ball away in time. Thailand also had another long-range shot by Seksan Ratree in the 34th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar.
Laos had their chances, but they were often lacking in quality. A Laos free kick from the right wing in the 28th minute went too deep and was saved by the Thai goalkeeper. Thailand continued to press and create more chances, but in the final minutes of the first half, they were unable to penetrate the visitors' defence. The first half ended in a 0-0 draw.
Entering the second half, Thailand quickly opened the score in the 60th minute thanks to a sharp combination from the right wing. Seksan Ratree entered the penalty area and finished decisively, putting the home team ahead 1-0.
However, just 9 minutes later, Laos unexpectedly equalized. From a bad clearance by the Thai defense, Laos captain Bounphachan was there at the right time to volley beautifully, tying the score 1-1.
After conceding the goal, Thailand were determined to attack to find the lead. Despite being pushed for most of the match, Laos had a few notable chances. However, no goals were scored in the remaining time. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
This result of the Laos team is highly appreciated and will help coach Ha Hyeok-jun and his team feel comfortable before facing the Vietnamese team in the opening match of the 2024 ASEAN Cup (formerly known as the AFF Cup) on December 9.
