The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has just announced the list of 28 players of the Malaysian national team preparing for the match against the Vietnamese national team, taking place on March 31st at Thien Truong Stadium.
The list of "Malayo Tigers" this time does not have many changes compared to the gathering at the end of 2025. Notably, the team continues to call up a large number of naturalized players, especially in the defense with names like Matthew Davies (Corbin-Ong), Daniel Ting, Declan Lambert, Dion Cools and Dominic Tan.
In the midfield and attack, midfielder Endrick dos Santos - playing for the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, continues to join Stuart Wilkin. The striker group includes familiar players such as Faisal Halim, Luqman Hakim, Paulo Josue, Ramadhan Saifullah and Safawi Rasid.
Besides, coach Peter Cklamovski also gave opportunities to some new factors such as Muhammad Feroz Baharudin, Muhammad Syahmi Safari and young goalkeeper Muhammad Haziq Aiman Mohd Esa.
It can be seen that the Malaysian coaching staff still has great faith in the naturalized players group, in the context that this team is missing some faces due to penalties from FIFA.
According to the AFC's decision, Malaysia was defeated 0-3 in two matches against Nepal and Vietnam in 2025. This result helped the Vietnamese team soon win a ticket to the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Finals with the top spot in Group F.
In the opposite direction, coach Kim Sang-sik also announced the list of 23 players of the Vietnamese team preparing for the upcoming matches against Bangladesh and Malaysia.
