According to the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa is continuing to closely coordinate with South African functional agencies to handle the case.

On the afternoon of March 19, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang answered the press about the case of Vietnamese citizen Chu Dang Khoa being arrested in South Africa for smuggling rhino horns.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: Immediately after receiving information about this matter, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa urgently contacted local functional agencies to verify information and implement appropriate citizen protection measures.

According to the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa is continuing to closely coordinate with South African functional agencies to handle the case in accordance with the law.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang added: As a country participating in the Convention on Combating the Trade in Organisms, the Convention on International Crimes Against Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Vietnam is committed to seriously implementing international commitments on wildlife protection and combating illegal trafficking of wild animals and plants.

To date, Vietnam has issued many legal documents and implemented many practical activities to manage, protect and strictly punish acts of illegal wildlife trafficking.
