Keep the faith
Athlete Quach Thi Lan is practicing with the Vietnam Athletics Team at the National Senior Athlete Training Center. According to professional preparation, she is on the list of athletes who are carefully reviewed by the coaching staff before officially registering to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
player Quach Thi Lan once expressed: "I am holding the best spirit and stably in terms of expertise. I look forward to being selected to participate in the 33rd SEA Games, marking my return to the regional arena.
The last time Quach Thi Lan participated in the SEA Games was the 31st SEA Games (May 2022) in Vietnam. Unfortunately, Quach Thi Lan's banned substance test sample tested positive, so she was given an 18-month ban and did not have the opportunity to participate in the 32nd SEA Games. Quach Thi Lan has ended her ban and returned to the Vietnam Athletics Team from 2024.
According to coach Nguyen Thi Bac (under the 400m event group, Vietnam Athletics Team) that when returning to the Vietnam Athletics Team, Quach Thi Lan will ensure her expertise while maintaining good form.
After the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, former athlete Nguyen Thi Huyen officially retired from the Vietnam Athletics Team. Quach Thi Lan returned to competition and she focused on regaining her form in the two events of the women's 400m and 400m hurdles. Lan is calculated by the coaching staff as one of the factors that will replace Nguyen Thi Huyen in the above 2 events.
Focus on the 400m hurdle run
I have participated in the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship and focused on the women's 4x400m relay event. At the tournament, I also learned about some athletes from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia... participating and found that many of them have very good expertise - Quach Thi Lan discussed.
After returning to compete in official tournaments, Quach Thi Lan has participated in 2 key international tournaments: the 2024 Asian Athletics Championship and the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship. At the 2024 Asian Athletics Championship, she and her teammates won the Gold Medal in the women's 4x400m relay and broke the national record (3 minutes 30 seconds 81 result). At the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship held at the end of May 2025, Quach Thi Lan competed in the main team for the women's 4x400m relay and won a Silver Medal.
The Vietnamese athletics team is focusing on winning Gold Medals in the women's 400m, 400m hurdles and women's 4x400m relay at the 33rd SEA Games. Quach Thi Lan is the main player for the women's 4x400m relay and the individual women's 400m hurdles.
When competing in the women's 400m and women's 400m hurdles at the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnam Athletics Team won 1 Gold Medal (400m for women) and 1 Silver Medal (400m for women) with the speed advantage of former player Nguyen Thi Huyen.
Quach Thi Lan has a good grasp of the above two events and has enough experience from previous times participating in the SEA Games. If she achieves her best form and expertise, Quach Thi Lan will be able to compete for a medal at the 33rd SEA Games.
"We have not decided on the official squad to compete in the 33rd SEA Games. We also depend on the regulations of the competition and predict the ability to compete for medals. The Vietnam Athletics Team will accurately check the strength from the athletes' achievements at the 2025 National Athletics Championship competing in August," said Mr. Nguyen Duc Nguyen, head of the athletics department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports).
