On the evening of June 18, in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship, Vietnam U19 Women's Team suffered a 1-3 defeat to Thailand U19 Women's Team. The only goal of the U19 Vietnam women's team was scored by Thuy Nga on the penalty spot in the 51st minute.
This is the 4th time the Vietnam U19 Women's Team has failed in the Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship final. Sharing after the final match at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC) ended, coach Okiyama Masahiko said that he was not surprised when U19 Vietnam women's team lost.
" Surprise is not surprising, but to talk about the gap and the confidence of the players, we did not perform well in the first half, the team needs to improve. Thailand is spirit, they are more confident playing football," coach Okiyama Masahiko shared.

The coach also expressed regret that the Vietnam U19 women's team could not win the championship.
He said: "It's a pity that we haven't won the championship to satisfy. I would like to thank the audience, who have always supported football.
However, what I feel satisfied with is that the players have tried their best. I think this defeat will be a valuable lesson, a good experience for the players to prepare for the upcoming tournaments".
However, coach Okiyama Masahiko still affirmed that the upcoming goal of the U19 Vietnam women's team is to win a ticket to the World Cup.
"This generation of players has a lot of potential and future. The U20 team will continue to maintain, because in August we will enter the Asian qualifiers.
There are still many things to improve for that tournament, especially in terms of competitive spirit and confidence. If the players continue to improve, next year we can aim for further goals, such as a ticket to the U20 Women's World Cup," said Mr. Okiyama Masahiko.
