According to statistics of the list of 23 players from 15 participating teams, U17 Vietnam has an average height of 1m7343, ranking 12/15 teams. This number is lower than the average of the whole tournament (1m7597), but still higher than some teams such as U17 Yemen (1m7052) or U17 Myanmar (1m6774), and almost equivalent to Indonesia.
At the continental level, U17 Korea leads with an average height of 1m817, followed by U17 Uzbekistan and U17 China. The top group creates a gap of about 8cm compared to U17 Vietnam, clearly reflecting the physique difference between the leading football nations of Asia and Southeast Asia.
In terms of weight, U17 Vietnam averaged 65.65 kg, ranking 11th/15 teams, also lower than the average of the tournament (68.12 kg). However, the team is still slightly better than some opponents such as U17 Indonesia, U17 India, U17 Myanmar and U17 Yemen. U17 Korea continues to lead with 73.52 kg.
The physique difference is clearly shown in each line. U17 Vietnam has some goalkeepers and defenders with good heights, ranging from 1m76 to 1m84. However, in midfield and attack, many players are only under 1m70 tall, causing the team's average rating to be lowered.
Notably, the U17 Vietnam squad is mainly players born in 2009, with only one case born in 2010. This shows that the coaching staff prioritizes uniformity and fitness maturity instead of using more young players.
Compared to opponents in the same group such as U17 Yemen, U17 Korea and U17 UAE, U17 Vietnam has an advantage in playing experience over U17 Yemen but is still clearly inferior in physique compared to U17 Korea and U17 UAE. In particular, U17 UAE also has many players being trained in Europe, helping to improve physical fitness and competition intensity.
The 2026 AFC U17 Championship finals have 15 participating teams, divided into 4 groups. U17 Vietnam is in Group C, facing U17 Yemen (May 6), U17 South Korea (May 10) and U17 UAE (May 13). The top two teams in each group will enter the quarterfinals and win tickets to the 2026 U17 World Cup in Qatar.
