On the afternoon of January 7, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City organized a ceremony to commend and reward coaches (HLV), athletes (VDV) who achieved excellent results at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) - 2025.
SEA Games 33 takes place from December 9 to December 20, 2025 in Thailand. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation won a total of 278 medals, including 87 Gold Medals (HCV), 81 Silver Medals (HCB) and 110 Bronze Medals (HCD), continuing to maintain its position in the leading national group in the region.
Among the more than 1,000 members of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, Hanoi Sports contributed 210 members, including 169 athletes, participating in competitions in 30 sports and sports categories.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha congratulated the achievements of Hanoi athletes and coaches participating in SEA Games 33.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that during the 33rd SEA Games, people across the country in general and people of the Capital in particular were moved and proud to receive the achievements that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has achieved.
In that overall achievement, there are important contributions from Hanoi Sports, accounting for 33.3% of the total medals of Vietnamese Sports. Hanoi has also had many athletes and many sports compete to achieve excellent results at the Games.
The achievements of Hanoi Sports at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games are noble and worthy rewards for the efforts, striving, determination, perseverance, and unremitting perseverance of the Hanoi coaches and athletes; are the result of the wholehearted care, support, and creation of conditions by the families and relatives of the athletes and coaches.
At the same time, affirming the leadership, direction, orientation, and methodical investment of the City in the strategy of developing the Capital's physical education and sports, especially the orientation of developing high-performance sports of Hanoi in recent years in the direction of developing professional sports, reaching out to the ASIAD and Olympic arenas," Ms. Vu Thu Ha emphasized.

Also according to Ms. Vu Thu Ha, Hanoi City has allocated resources, invested in facilities and equipment to serve training and competition, meeting international standards; issued mechanisms and policies to support and reward coaches and athletes; organized athletes to train and compete in countries with developed sports; created conditions for athlete delegations to exchange, rub shoulders, learn from experience, and improve their fighting spirit at prestigious international sports tournaments.
The city also has a policy to strengthen the use of foreign experts directly training Hanoi athletes. These policies show Hanoi's determination to invest in sports within the ASIAD and Olympic system, taking the SEA Games arena as a basis to gradually reach out and approach the continental and world arenas.

At the ceremony, Hanoi announced a bonus of 3 billion VND for the Hanoi Sports Delegation at SEA Games 33. Hanoi also rewarded 1 billion VND for the Vietnam U22 football team for their convincing championship at SEA Games 33.
At the Commendation Ceremony, Hanoi also announced the decision to commend and award Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee along with bonus funds at the level of 55 million VND/HCV, 30 million VND/HCB, 25 million VND/HCD.
For coaches with athletes winning medals, the commendation level is 50% compared to the athlete commendation level for nearly 300 officials, coaches, and athletes with excellent achievements at SEA Games 33.
