Regarding the prosecution and temporary detention of Mr. Cao Tien Doan - Chairman of Dong A Thanh Hoa Club - by the Investigation Police Agency of the Provincial Police to clarify the violation of accounting regulations, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has issued instructions to ensure the team continues to participate in the V.League season 2025-2026 stably.
According to the directive document, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dau Thanh Tung province assigned the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the Thanh Hoa Football Federation, the club's leadership and Dong A Group to fully maintain the training and competition plan of the first team as well as the youth teams. The requirement is that the team's activities must run smoothly, comply with the regulations of the tournament organizing committee and maintain professional efficiency.
Previously, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the Thanh Hoa Football Federation to temporarily receive, manage and operate the club. At the same time, the department also advised the province in calling for more businesses with financial potential to participate in development, in order to aim for the long-term stability of Thanh Hoa football.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Tu - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa - said that the consistent viewpoint of the provincial leaders is to do everything possible to maintain the football team. He emphasized that this is the spiritual asset of the people of Thanh Hoa, not belonging to any individual. The representative of Mr. Cao Tien Doan's family also affirmed that they will support and create conditions for the team to maintain stable operations.
In nearly 5 years of association with Dong A Group, Thanh Hoa club has won 2 National Cups in 2023 and 2023-2024 and 1 National Super Cup in 2023. This is considered the most successful period in the history of the Thanh team. However, in the 2025-2026 season, the team is still struggling with only 1 point after the first 3 rounds.
Currently, V.League 2025-2026 is taking a break for national teams to gather to prepare for a series of matches in the FIFA Days competition schedule in September. Meanwhile, the case related to Mr. Cao Tien Doan is still being investigated and clarified by Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.
