U22 China is not too strong
At the CFA Team China 2024 friendly tournament , the Vietnam U22 team started with a 1-2 loss to China U22. With the decisive goal coming in the 89th minute, right after Dinh Bac hit the home team's post, this loss was obviously regrettable. Unfortunately, in the match, the students of acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh had quite a few shots - including some good plays, and the failure to resolve the match was pointed out as the main reason.
There are some good coordination phases of U22 Vietnam, with clear intentions, but we also have to look at some other aspects more realistically. In the unpleasant weather conditions, the difference in the effects on the two teams is probably not too much. Therefore, it can be seen that U22 China is not too strong.
That is why Thai Son and his teammates have space and time to play and coordinate. In a game with a moderate tempo, calmness and precision are essential. On this point, many times U22 Vietnam could not maintain. U22 China players entered the game quickly and scored an early goal (minute 14), but also because of such acceleration, they lost strength quite quickly so they did not create more dangerous opportunities.
And when they were out of breath, at a not-so-superior level, the home team made mistakes that allowed U22 Vietnam to equalize (by Quoc Viet at the end of the first half) and "gave" them a very clear opportunity at the end of the match.
The feeling of regret came from some "sharp" shots by Quoc Viet, Chau Phi, Xuan Bac, Ngoc Son's header, or Dinh Bac's curling shot that missed the goal by a hair's breadth, but looking back, it can be seen that the U22 China defense was not really good enough to stop U22 Vietnam from playing football.
More difficult than before U22 Uzbekistan
A 1-1 draw with U22 China would have been more beautiful and worthy for U22 Vietnam, but the defeat also helped the team gain more experience. Of course, correcting the finishing - which is also correcting the psychological and physical factors, must be done, but at the same time, when looking forward to the next match against U22 Uzbekistan - the team won 2-0 against U22 Malaysia in the opening match.
There is no need to discuss the quality of Uzbekistan youth football and Vietnamese youth teams often lose when facing each other. So, the question arises and needs to be answered - or at least imagined - about the next match with U22 Uzbekistan.
Firstly, the match is scheduled to start about 4 hours earlier than the match against U22 China (meaning at 3:30 p.m. local time). Given the current weather conditions, how are the players physically prepared? Does the coaching staff have any plans to change or adjust?
Second, U22 Uzbekistan is considered to be of better quality, will they give U22 Vietnam space to play? If not, what is the necessary strategy? And then, of course, there will not be many opportunities to finish like the match with U22 China.
Third, facing a stronger opponent, playing good passing and movement, mistakes with U22 Vietnam also appeared, forcing the players to train their mentality as well as endurance. Sometimes, just one action, one somewhat negative attitude, the collapse will be chain reaction. When coach Hong Vinh said that this tournament is to rub shoulders and "find outstanding factors", each player needs to show themselves both individually and collectively...
