During the FIFA Days in September, the VFF “arrested” the Men’s Football Team to play two quality opponents, Russia and Thailand. However, when the first match with Russia was scheduled for September 5, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team only gathered on August 30. Some players could not gather until September 1 after playing the National Super Cup.
Time is too short, until September 2, midfielder Hung Dung shared that the coaching board has not yet given tactical requirements. Of course, it is not that there are none, but when there is too little time to prepare, it is difficult to say that the preparation is complete. Facing a quality opponent from Europe, all that experts and fans can think of is a learning match.
In fact, learning is natural, because even if the preparation time is longer, the level of players coming from high-quality football backgrounds from Europe is zero. It is a long journey, and as has been said many times, if there is no change, Vietnamese football will only be able to dream of the World Cup.
Speaking of the World Cup, the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team has a chance to participate in this tournament next year. Although the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has sent a notice, it is still a chance because Thailand has not confirmed that it will host. But whether or not they can participate in the World Cup, Vietnamese volleyball still has a lot of work to do.
One year from now, the Women's Volleyball World Cup will come , and people will talk about the generation gap, about changes in the national championship, about investment, and even about players going abroad. But is one year enough for Vietnamese women's volleyball to reach the World Cup and compete?
Just like the Women's Football Team at the 2023 World Cup, it will still be just experience and learning. Vietnamese women's volleyball has made progress in the international arena, but not enough, when the way of doing it is like many other team sports - very lacking in continuity and only relying on each generation of good athletes gathering together.
Long or short, in the end, whether you move up to a new level or not still depends on your own changes.
