Vietnam started the group stage with an easy 4-0 victory over Jordan on the evening of March 13 (Vietnam time). Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien both had impressive performances when they defeated Ahmed Al Ghababsheh and Mashhour Abu Tayeh respectively.
On the evening of March 14, Vietnam faced the Belgian team. Phuong Vinh continued to beat Roland Forthomme. However, Quyet Chien lost to Peter Ceulemans, causing the match between the two teams to end in a 2-2 draw.
In the decisive match on the morning of March 15, Vietnam met Sweden, only needing a draw to enter the quarter-finals. Bao Phuong Vinh with a 40-19 victory over Nalle Olsson helped the Vietnamese team pass the group stage, even though Tran Quyet Chien lost to Torbjorn Blomdahl. Vietnam finished Group C in 2nd place with 8 points, after Belgium (9 points), Sweden was eliminated.
Phuong Vinh is the only player to have won all matches in this group. On the evening of March 15, groups A and B will compete to determine the remaining 4 teams to enter the quarter-finals.
The world team carom tournament is held in Viersen city (Germany). This year's tournament attracted the participation of 16 strong teams. Vietnam is currently one of the strong candidates for the championship, along with strong opponents such as Türkiye, South Korea and Belgium.
