Domestic coffee prices
On September 20, coffee prices in the Central Highlands provinces shockingly decreased by VND 5,000/kg, bringing the average price down to only VND 111,400/kg.
The decrease of 5,000 VND/kg occurred simultaneously in all localities. Coffee prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong (old) are currently at 111,500 VND/kg, while Lam Dong and Gia Lai are at 110,800 VND/kg and 111,200 VND/kg respectively.
Compared to the price of VND 119,900/kg on September 15, domestic coffee prices have lost up to VND 8,500/kg in just 5 days. This is a sharp correction.
World coffee prices
The closing price data for the weekend trading session showed that both international coffee exchanges saw a sell-off.
Robusta price ( London): Robusta coffee price plummets. The contract for November 2025 decreased by 312 USD/ton, equivalent to 7.02%, to 4,135 USD/ton. This is one of the sharpest declines in many months.
Arabica prices (New York price): Arabica prices also suffer the same fate. The December 2025 contract decreased by 15.55 US cents/lb, equivalent to 4.07%, to 365.30 US cents/lb.
Coffee prices today fell sharply in both the world and domestic markets, stemming from a series of resonant reasons. Internationally, the decline was triggered by a wave of massive profit-taking from large hedge funds after a period of rapid price increases. This move was strongly fueled by positive news about supply.
The weather forecast for Brazil with favorable rain has increased expectations for a bumper crop. More importantly, the news that US lawmakers may lift tariffs on Brazilian coffee has made the market believe that supply to the world's largest consumer will soon be unblocked.
In Vietnam, the plummeting domestic coffee prices are a direct result of the record decline in reference prices on the London Stock Exchange. This shock also strongly affected market sentiment, causing domestic selling pressure to increase due to concerns that prices will continue to decline.
