As of 11:30 a.m. today (January 2), the domestic coffee market price remained the same as the previous trading session, currently the purchase price fluctuates between 118,700 - 119,500 VND/kg. The average coffee purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces today is 119,500 VND/kg.
Lam Dong is still the province with the lowest coffee purchasing price in the Central Highlands region. Compared to the closing price yesterday (January 1), coffee prices in this region remain unchanged, still being offered to the market at 118,700 VND/kg.
Purchasing at a price higher than 800 VND/kg, the coffee price in Dak Lak province today only increased by 100 VND/kg, up to 119,500 VND/kg, equal to Dak Nong province, the locality maintaining the leading position with the highest purchasing price in the country.
Meanwhile, coffee prices in Gia Lai province did not record much fluctuation compared to the previous trading session, setting the mark at 119,400 VND/kg.
On the London and New York exchanges, the coffee market moved in the same direction across all terms. On the London Robusta Coffee Exchange, coffee prices remained unchanged, moving away from the $5,000/ton mark. Contracts for delivery in March 2025 and May 2025 remained unchanged at $4,875/ton and $4,805/ton, respectively.
Similarly, the price of Arabica coffee in New York remained unchanged. The March 2025 and May 2025 delivery periods were both fixed at 319.75 cents/lb and 314.85 cents/lb.
Vietnam, as the world’s leading exporter of Robusta coffee, is facing many challenges. Total global coffee production is about 165 million bags while total demand is estimated at about 168 million bags, leading to a shortage of 3 million bags.
Although global coffee production is forecast to increase, production in Vietnam may decrease in the coming years due to adverse weather conditions and reduced coffee growing areas. However, stable consumption demand and high competitiveness in the international market will continue to be a stepping stone for the Vietnamese coffee industry.
Given the current situation, domestic coffee prices are expected to fluctuate in the coming days, depending on developments on world exchanges and import demand from major markets.
