On the London and New York exchanges, the coffee market has changed dramatically in all terms after a series of days of stagnation. On the London Robusta coffee exchange, coffee prices are still covered in red, far from the $5,000/ton mark. The contract for delivery in March 2025 decreased by nearly 1% (equivalent to $32/ton), trading at $4,921/ton. The contract for delivery in May 2025 decreased by less than 0.06% (equivalent to $29/ton), listed at $4,855/ton.
Meanwhile, the situation in the New York Arabica coffee market has been volatile. The March 2025 and May 2025 delivery periods have both dropped nearly 1%, currently hovering at 321.00 cents/lb and 316.95 cents/lb.
According to market analysts, the downward trend on the two coffee exchanges last week and will continue early this week, due to the high trading performance on the two exchanges, especially the London exchange. In addition, on the exchanges, speculators are still increasing liquidation sales to lock in profits after a year of positive coffee progress. At the end of the year, capital management business owners also withdraw profits to spend.
Vietnam’s coffee industry had a very successful year when exports exceeded the 5 billion USD mark for the entire crop year. According to many experts, in 2025, the opportunity for Vietnamese coffee is still very large when the world’s leading coffee producing country, Brazil, will reduce production.
