Domestic coffee prices
After yesterday's downward adjustment session, the domestic coffee market this morning, January 24, maintained a stable state, not recording any new price fluctuations. The average purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces continued to be anchored at 99,200 VND/kg.
Specifically, in Dak Nong province (old), coffee prices still maintained the highest level in the region at 99,300 VND/kg. Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces both maintained purchasing prices of 99,200 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, in Lam Dong, the price of crushed coffee is traded at 98,800 VND/kg. Although the price is flat, market sentiment is very excited about the strong increase of the world, promising a boom in the next session.
World coffee prices
Contrary to domestic calm, the international market has just experienced an emotional weekend trading session. On the London exchange, Robusta coffee futures for March 2026 had a spectacular breakthrough when it increased by 116 USD (equivalent to 2.88%), closing the session at the highest level in 1.5 months.
The New York Stock Exchange also responded to the upward momentum when the price of Arabica futures for March 2026 added 3.20 cents (0.92%).
The main driving force kicking off this "top-breaking" momentum came from the plunge of the USD. The Dollar Index (DXY) fell to its lowest level in 3.5 months on Friday, boosting a strong short-covering wave in the commodity market. In addition, data from Cecafe shows that Brazil's Robusta coffee exports in December fell by 61% compared to the same period, plus the fact that rainfall in the Minas Gerais region last week only reached 53% of the historical average, further strengthened concerns about supply, supporting price increases.
Coffee price assessment and forecast
Robusta breaking the 1.5-month old peak is an extremely important technical signal, confirming that the upward trend has returned strongly despite pressure from recovering inventories on the ICE exchange. The weakening of the USD and the decline in supply from Brazil are a solid "launch" for coffee prices.
With this development, the domestic market is facing a great opportunity to re-establish a historical milestone. It is predicted that coffee prices in the Central Highlands are likely to have a strong price increase, possibly exceeding the 100,000 VND/kg mark once again.
