Domestic coffee prices
After the first session of the week's exploration, the domestic coffee market this morning (January 20) broke through and increased again. The recovery of Robusta futures prices on the London exchange last night activated a new wave of price increases in the Central Highlands. The average buying price of the whole region has now reached 99,600 VND/kg, an increase of 500 VND compared to yesterday.
Dak Nong (old) continued to be the "star" of the market when it increased by 400 VND, pushing the purchase price to a record level of 99,700 VND/kg. This is the highest price recorded in this crop year.
Dak Lak recorded the strongest coffee price increase of 600 VND/kg, bringing the price up to 99,600 VND/kg, closely following Dak Nong.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai increased by 500 VND/kg, trading at 99,500 VND/kg.
Coffee prices in Lam Dong also increased by 500 VND, to 98,800 VND/kg.
With this development, the 100,000 VND/kg mark is no longer a "dream" but is already present right in front of our eyes. Just a slight increase from the London floor this afternoon, this historic milestone will be officially conquered.
World coffee prices
The international market in the past session was quite special because the New York Stock Exchange was on Martin Luther King's Day holiday, only the London Stock Exchange was operating.
London Stock Exchange (Robusta): At the end of the first trading session of the week, Robusta prices had an important recovery momentum. March 2026 futures contracts increased by 16 USD (0.40%), regaining the mark of 4,016 USD/ton. Although the January 2026 spot futures slightly decreased by 5 USD, the fact that the main term (March) remained stable and increased above the 4,000 USD mark is a very good signal to strengthen the market's psychology.
New York Stock Exchange (Arabica): Closing for holidays, the price remained unchanged at the closing level last weekend at 355.30 cents/lb. The absence of pressure from the New York Stock Exchange (which is being dominated by Brazil rain news) has created a gap for Robusta to freely recover based on actual supply and demand factors.
Coffee price assessment and forecast
The recovery of Robusta London in the "absence" of New York Arabica shows that the internal demand for this type of coffee is still very large.
Last weekend's weather forecasts showed that rain will appear in Brazil. If this information triggers a sell-off on the Arabica exchange when it opens for compensation (Gap down), Robusta prices may be dragged down accordingly, causing the domestic upward momentum to be stopped.
