Domestic pepper prices today (October 10) recorded a sharp increase of up to 2,000 VND/kg. Specifically, the pepper purchasing price in Dak Lak was at 148,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday. In the Southeast region, Ba Ria - Vung Tau also unexpectedly increased by 1,500 VND/kg, to 147,500 VND/kg.
Similar to Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai remains at 146,000 VND/kg.
In Dak Nong, pepper prices today increased sharply by 2,000 VND, to 148,000 VND/kg. This is also the province with the highest pepper purchasing price in the country compared to yesterday's trading session (October 9).
Thus, the average domestic pepper price is currently at 148,000 VND/kg, with the highest increase of 2,000 VND/kg.
According to a recent report by Nedspice Group, Vietnam's processed pepper exports have increased by more than 50% compared to 2023. Meanwhile, whole black pepper exports have only increased slightly due to a shortage of supply from China.
During the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7, China focused on stimulating domestic consumption, leading to a reduction in imports of goods, including pepper. In addition, the increase in the USD price due to escalating tensions in the Middle East also affected global pepper prices.
Today's pepper prices in the world market are updated from the International Pepper Community. At the end of the trading session, black pepper and white pepper prices in Indonesia are still leading.
Specifically, the prices of Indonesian black pepper and white pepper both increased by 0.06%, currently at 6,706 USD/ton and 8,966 USD/ton, respectively. Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper decreased sharply by 1.48% compared to yesterday, reaching 6,750 USD/ton.
In the remaining markets, prices remained the same as yesterday, such as the prices of Malaysian ASTA black and white pepper at USD 8,800/ton and USD 11,200/ton, respectively.
The price of Vietnamese black pepper is at 6,800 USD/ton, equivalent to 170,170 VND/kg for the 500g/l type. Meanwhile, the 550g/l type is 7,100 USD/ton, equivalent to 177,678 VND/kg and the price of white pepper is 10,150 USD/ton, equivalent to 254,004 VND/kg.
