Data from the Central Statistical Office of Indonesia (BPS) shows that in December 2024, Indonesia's pepper exports reached 4,673 tons, down 27.5% compared to the previous month but up to 2.8 times compared to the same period in 2023.
In 2024, Indonesia exported 55,475 tons of pepper of all kinds, earning 311.3 million USD, recording an increase of 132.9% in volume and 171.8% in turnover compared to 2023. This result helps Indonesia maintain its third position globally in terms of pepper exports, after Brazil and Vietnam.
In the country, farmers in localities are focusing on harvesting pepper. However, garden productivity in some areas has decreased due to the impact of the weather.
For example, in some pepper growing areas in Dak Nong, harsh weather has reduced productivity compared to 2024. However, pepper prices are still high, creating motivation for farmers in the process of harvesting and caring for their gardens.
Thanks to the systematic application of scientific techniques in pepper care, promoting production efficiency. The stages of harvesting, drying and preserving agricultural products are also focused on by the people, contributing to improving product quality, thereby increasing selling prices.
