Assessment and forecast
Looking at the developments in recent days of inland pepper, experts believe that there are 2 main factors. First, short-term profit-taking pressure. After a series of hot increases that have caused prices from VND 140,000 to over VND 150,000/kg in a short time, selling pressure to realize profits is inevitable.
Many small speculators and farmers who need cash to cover year-end expenses have taken advantage of selling when prices peak, creating local supply that causes prices to turn around and adjust.
Second, the psychological impact of the coffee market. The "free fall" of coffee prices, losing the mark of VND95,000/kg, has more or less affected the general sentiment of the agricultural product market.
Some agents operating in parallel with both coffee and pepper products are forced to restructure capital flows, limit purchases in consumption to handle losses or risks from coffee, causing demand to temporarily weaken.
