Domestic pepper prices: Unexpected increase
As of 11:30 today (8.21), the domestic pepper market fluctuated after a series of days of stagnation, averaging 142,600 VND/kg. Currently, the price still ranges from 141,000 - 144,000 VND/kg.
Purchasing pepper at the lowest price is Dong Nai, reaching 141,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg.
Gia Lai province pushed the price to 1,000 VND/kg, announcing the pepper price at 142,000 VND/kg.
Ho Chi Minh City increased by VND 2,000/kg, while Lam Dong province did not change the purchase price. Currently, these two areas are both being sold on the market at 143,000 VND/kg.
Notably, Dak Lak is the province with the highest pepper purchasing price in the country at 144,000 VND/kg.
At present, most of the pepper fields in the Central Highlands and Southeast provinces have been harvested in previous months, and the amount of goods brought to the market is no longer as abundant as at the peak of the crop.
Farmers, after selling a part to cover production costs, now tend to hoard and wait for better prices. Meanwhile, dealers and exporting enterprises also do not have much inventory, so downward pressure is unlikely to occur.
