Domestic pepper prices: Week reverses to increase
Today (May 3), domestic pepper prices traded in the range of 140,500 - 144,000 VND/kg, an average increase of 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg compared to last week.
At the end of last week, pepper prices in Dak Lak and Lam Dong are at the highest level of 144,000 VND/kg.
Next was Ho Chi Minh City at 142,500 VND/kg, Dong Nai at 142,000 VND/kg, and Gia Lai recorded the lowest at 140,500 VND/kg.

World pepper prices: Increase and decrease intertwined
According to the International Pepper Association (IPC), pepper prices increase and decrease interspersed in countries.
Indonesian black pepper closed last week at 6,966 USD/ton, down 0.59% (equivalent to 41 USD/ton) compared to a week ago. Indonesian white pepper closed last week at 9,178 USD/ton, down 0.57% (53 USD/ton) compared to the previous week.
In contrast, the price of Brazilian black pepper type ASTA 570 increased by 1.67% (about 100 USD/ton), currently trading at 6,100 USD/ton.
In Vietnam, the export price of black pepper fluctuates in the range of 6,100 - 6,200 USD/ton for types 500 g/l and 550 g/l. The price of white pepper in Vietnam is flat, setting the mark of 9,000 USD/ton.
Assessments and forecasts
Domestic pepper prices increased in the last days of the week, reflecting tight supply and good demand. In the coming time, domestic pepper prices are likely to remain high due to tight supply after the main harvest period and stable demand from export markets.
According to data from the Customs Department, in the first 15 days of April 2026, Vietnam exported 14,489 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 91.8 million USD, an increase of 28.6% in volume and 17.3% in value compared to the same period last year.
Accumulated from the beginning of the year to April 15, 2026, total pepper exports reached 80,627 tons, corresponding to a turnover of 522.6 million USD, a sharp increase of 37.9% in volume and 29.8% in value compared to the same period. However, the average export price decreased by 5.8%, to 6,482 USD/ton.
