Domestic pepper prices: Unexpectedly high
As of 11:30 am today (April 30), domestic pepper prices have increased sharply, averaging 142,600 VND/kg. Currently, key areas are trading in the range of 140,500 - 144,000 VND/kg.

After a slight price increase of 500 VND/kg, Gia Lai province increased by another 2,000 VND/kg, trading at the milestone of 140. 500 VND/kg.
In the same direction, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City increased by 2,500 VND/kg and 2,000 VND/kg respectively, anchored at the threshold of 142,500 VND/kg and 142,000 VND/kg.
Dak Lak and Lam Dong offer for sale at a purchase price of 14,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg and 3,000 VND/kg.
World pepper prices: Indonesia reverses downward trend
In the world market, pepper prices are stable in most countries. The two items of black and white pepper in Indonesia reversed to decrease, trading in the range of 6,988 - 9,206 USD/ton (equivalent to 184,260 VND/kg - 242,744 VND/kg), respectively down 32 USD/ton and 43 USD/ton.
The Brazilian market holds the level of 100 USD/ton, listed at the mark of 6,100 USD/ton (about 16,845 VND/kg). Meanwhile, black and white peppers remain unchanged, trading at the marks of 12,200 USD/ton and 9,300 USD/ton.
In Vietnam's pepper export market, the price of black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l remains at 6,100 - 6,200 USD/ton. In the same direction, ASTA white pepper is offered for sale at 9,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 237,312 VND/kg).

Assessments and forecasts
The increase in domestic pepper prices reflects tight supply and good demand. In the coming time, domestic pepper prices are likely to remain high due to tight supply after the main harvest period and stable demand from export markets.
According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, in the first quarter of 2026, Vietnam mainly exported black pepper, accounting for 66.32% of total exports, followed by white pepper accounting for 12.8%, ground black pepper accounting for 12.6%, ground white pepper accounting for 3.5%, and the rest are other processed pepper varieties such as green pepper, red pepper, five-colored pepper...
Vietnam exports black pepper to 42 markets. Among them, the US is Vietnam's largest black pepper export market, accounting for 46.11% of total exports, and exports to other markets account for 1-9%.
