Domestic pepper prices: flat trend
As of 11:30 today (September 5), the domestic pepper market is stable. Currently, the price of pepper is recorded at 139,000 - 144,000 VND/kg.
Gia Lai province today kept the same price, anchored at 139,000 VND/kg.
Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City reached 140,000 VND/kg. Notably, Lam Dong province remained unchanged at 140,000 VND/kg, while Dak Lak closed the weekly session at 144,000 VND/kg.
World pepper prices: intertwined increases and decreases
In the world market, pepper prices have increased and decreased alternately. The Indonesian exchange - one of the most vibrant markets turned to increase slightly by 0.3%. Currently, these two items are traded between 7,541 - 10,187 USD/ton (equivalent to 198,706 VND/kg - 268,428 VND/kg).
The Brazilian exchange also recorded an increase of 3.2%, this region is currently at 6,250 USD/ton (about 164,688 VND/kg). Meanwhile, Malaysia's black and white pepper remained at 11,750 USD/ton and 8,900 USD/ton.
Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the export price of black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l is stable, currently anchored at 6,240 - 6,370 USD/ton. ASTA white pepper prices reached 8,950 USD/ton (equivalent to 235,833 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, pepper exports in the first 6 months of the year nationwide reached 124.9 thousand tons with a value of 859.6 million USD, down 12.4% in volume but up 35.7% in value compared to the same period last year. The average export price reached 6,881 USD/ton, up 54.8%.
The US, Germany and India are the three largest markets, with market participants of 26.8%, 9.2% and 7.7%, respectively.
The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) stated that in the short term, domestic pepper prices will remain low, many farmers and speculators are still holding goods and are not rushing to sell with the expectation that prices will recover better.
