October 20 gift shifts to "realization"
On the days leading up to the October 20 holiday, the gift market in Hanoi became bustling. From gift shops, flower stalls along the road to online stalls, the number of customers has increased sharply compared to normal days. It is worth noting that the habit of shopping for gifts this year has changed a lot. Instead of chasing sophisticated or luxurious gifts, consumers tend to prioritize simple, practical and highly applicable products.
Ms. Kieu Oanh (23 years old) - an employee at a shopping mall in Cau Giay (Hanoi) - said: "This year's gift market has a combination of gifts such as: cat bear with chocolate, cat bear with shampoo, flowers with cat bear. Highly applicable items such as shampoos, cleansers or shower gels with gifts are better consumed than flowers or stuffed animals.
According to Ms. Oanh, customers are now more interested in convenience and reasonable prices. Instead of spending money on formal items, they choose affordable products that can be used for a long time, bringing real value.
According to the reporter's records, the shopping group for this occasion is mainly students, young couples and adult women. Each group has its own purpose: students often buy gifts for teachers or relatives; couples give gifts to each other; and adult women choose to buy to give to their mothers, colleagues or superiors.

As a shopping customer at the Cau Giay area shopping mall, Ms. Thanh Tam (32 years old) said: "On the occasion of October 20 this year, I chose a gift set of shower gel and face-makeup milk to give to my child's teacher. I prioritize gifts with youthful designs, compact combinations, and easy to use. Large, canned gifts are often difficult to use, so I choose simple, moderate and highly applicable types in daily life."
According to Ms. Tam, the gift does not need to be expensive, just showing concern and sophistication in choice is enough to make the recipient feel happy.
Not only adults, many young people are also tending to choose practical gifts that can be used every day instead of just for decoration.
At a gift shop in Cau Giay, Nguyen Dang Quang (19 years old) chose to buy stationery to give to girls in class. Sharing about the reason for choosing the gift, Quang said: On the occasion of October 20, I chose to give gifts such as pens and books instead of flowers or cute decorations. I want the gift to be used every day instead of just for decoration.

Online stores record sharp increase in purchasing power
Not only at traditional stores, the online market also recorded a sharp increase in purchasing power. Ms. Minh Trang (Ha Dong, Hanoi) - owner of an online store - said: "Compared to normal days, purchasing power on October 20 increased significantly, sales were many times higher. Up to now, my shop has sold more than 200 sets of gifts of all kinds.
Sharing about the reason for choosing to sell health care products, Ms. Trang said: "The current fresh flower and cosmetic market is quite saturated, the level of competition is high while the application is not large. I want to bring more practical products that can be used daily and are good for health.
According to Ms. Trang, the price from 200,000 - 300,000 VND is the most common. This is the same price as a large bouquet of flowers or an average gift set, making it easier for customers to decide. The customer group is also very diverse - from students, parents, office workers to businesses buying as gifts for employees.
This year's October 20th anniversary shows a clear shift in consumer trends, buyers no longer focus on form, but focus on the value of use and meaning of gifts. Health care products, personal items or stationery are popular because they are both affordable and show sophisticated care.
