According to many flower growers for Tet 2025, the Tet flower market is somewhat more positive than last year. Although it has not yet reached the peak shopping season, flower prices have shown signs of increasing. However, product output and purchasing power are still a concern for many gardeners.
To expand the market and reduce rental and transportation costs, some Western gardeners have done multi-channel business, combining direct sales and e-commerce platforms.
In Hau Giang, Mr. Tran Van Nhanh (Chau Thanh A district) has started posting pictures introducing Tet flower varieties on social networks to attract customers.
It is known that for the 2025 Tet flower crop, Mr. Nhanh planted nearly 8,000 pots of marigolds, chrysanthemums, bougainvillea and ornamental almonds. Of these, 5,000 pots were ordered early by traders, the rest he will sell retail.
“Last year, I also tried selling online and sold more than 100 pots, mainly to customers in the province. Farmers work hard all year round and worry most about output. In modern times, we have to learn to sell online and at the market to have more customers,” Mr. Nhanh shared.
Last Tet season, Mr. Nhanh earned more than 65 million VND, of which 1/3 of the flowers were sold online. The flowers he sells online are mainly marigolds, sunflowers, and chrysanthemums because they are easy to transport and have a mid-range price.
In Can Tho City, this is the third year that Mr. Pham Van Ut (Binh Thuy District) has combined Tet flower and ornamental plant business in a multi-channel format.
According to Mr. Ut, the advantage of selling online helps to significantly reduce the cost of premises, labor and expand the market. However, he will not abandon the market but continue to do traditional business.
“I only sell mid-range flowers online, priced from 50,000 - 180,000 VND/pot. For ornamental plants such as apricot and bougainvillea, I still want to let customers see, view and consult directly. I have been selling for many years at the Tet market so I still like going to the market, this is something that online sales cannot bring,” said Mr. Ut.
According to information from the Binh Thuy District Agricultural Extension Station (Can Tho City), the number of ornamental flowers planted in the 2025 Tet crop is expected to reach over 200,000 baskets. The consumption of Tet flowers this year may increase by 5-8% compared to 2024.
In order to facilitate connections between traders, gardeners and ornamental flower producers, the People's Committee of Can Tho City has agreed in principle to assign the Department of Industry and Trade to organize the Tet flower market in 2025.
It is expected that there will be over 200 lots and stalls displaying and trading ornamental flowers, ornamental plants, and bonsai of gardeners, farmers, and small traders in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces.
The 2025 Tet flower market is expected to take place from January 18 to January 28, 2025, at Tay Do Square - Can Tho (Mai Chi Tho Street, Urban Area 586, Phu Thu Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City).
