On the morning of September 16, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a regular press conference to provide information on the situation of agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the first 8 months of 2026.
At the press conference, Deputy Minister Dang Ngoc Diep said that in the past 8 months, the agricultural - environmental sector has achieved many positive results, but in the last 4 months of the year, the entire sector needs to try harder to achieve the target of a total export turnover of 74.2 billion USD.


Mr. Nguyen Gia Long, Deputy Director of the Planning - Finance Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that in 8 months of 2026, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 49.3 billion USD, imports reached 35.06 billion and trade surplus of 14.25 billion USD. Regarding exports, agricultural product groups reached 25.66 billion USD, up 2.7%; forestry products 12.57 billion USD, up 5.4%; seafood 7.94 billion USD, up 10.9%; livestock products 511.9 million USD, up 30%; production inputs 2.61 billion USD, up 64.8%; salt 10.4 million USD, up 44.4%.
In the context of the world situation continuing to develop rapidly and unpredictably; fierce trade competition; green standards and traceability are increasingly strict; natural disasters and climate change are developing abnormally, under the leadership of the Central Government, the drastic direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the drastic management of the Government, the Prime Minister and the companionship of the entire political system, the Agriculture and Environment sector has made efforts to overcome many difficulties, maintain positive growth momentum, continue to affirm its role as a "support" of the economy, contributing to maintaining macroeconomic stability, ensuring national food security, major balances and promoting sustainable development," Mr. Nguyen Gia Long shared.

In the last months of the year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment strives to achieve the target of total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products of 74.2 billion USD. The last 4 months of the year need to reach 24.9 billion USD, averaging 6.23 billion USD per month, of which: September needs to reach about 6.2 billion USD; October and November about 6.1 billion USD and December about 6.5 billion USD. Vegetables and fruits and seafood are assessed as 2 key commodity groups with room for growth, with the potential to increase quite well according to the law of increasing consumption demand at the end of the year to serve Christmas and New Year.
