Strengthening the promotion of agricultural products and regional specialties
Many trade promotion activities and agricultural product consumption connections are organized in Ho Chi Minh City such as the Southern Fruit Festival 2026, Fruit Week "On the wharf, under the boat", Regional Agricultural Product Week - Binh Dong 2026... The programs not only create space to introduce and promote agricultural products, specialty fruits, OCOP products of many localities but also contribute to promoting goods consumption and expanding markets for farmers and businesses.
Recorded at some traditional markets in Ho Chi Minh City, the amount of fruit on display is quite diverse with many types. Many small traders said that purchasing power shows signs of improvement as selling prices have decreased compared to before.
Ms. Le Hong Van (resident of Cho Quan ward) commented that fruit prices recently have been quite affordable, so her family buys more. "Previously, durian prices were sometimes very high, so I only bought a little to eat, but now prices have decreased significantly such as: Durian, lychee, rambutan... so I can buy more often. Many other types of food are also cheaper, so living costs are reduced" - Ms. Van shared.
At Thu Duc wholesale agricultural and food market, the supply of goods continues to be maintained at a high level. Mr. Nguyen Binh Phuong - Director of Business Department of Thu Duc Agricultural Products Market Management and Trading Joint Stock Company - said that each day the market receives about 2,300 tons of goods, of which fruit alone accounts for about 600 tons. Large supply causes selling prices at wholesale markets to decrease, leading to a decrease in retail prices at traditional markets.
Proactively stabilize the market, not to let essential goods lack
Faced with unpredictable fluctuations in the international context and domestic capital disbursement pressure, Ho Chi Minh City is proactively implementing many synchronous response scenarios to maintain market stability, creating a foundation for the goal of double-digit economic growth in 2026.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance, in order to proactively resolve market pressures from now until the end of the year, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned specific tasks to departments, branches and localities to focus on closely monitoring supply and demand developments, and forecasting prices for timely regulation.
The city aims to prevent shortages or supply disruptions leading to sudden price increases for essential commodities such as gasoline, food, especially construction materials.
For items subject to expected price adjustments, functional agencies are required to carefully review the factors forming prices, coordinate with statistical agencies to comprehensively assess socio-economic impacts to choose the appropriate level and timing of adjustment, minimizing the impact on the general price level.
At the same time, inter-sectoral forces will strengthen inspection and examination of compliance with regulations on price declaration and listing; resolutely handle acts of speculation, hoarding goods, inflating prices or spreading false information causing market disruption.
Ho Chi Minh City proactively activates price stabilization scenarios in the context that commodity and service prices in the coming months will still be under a lot of pressure. With abundant supply and flexible management solutions, the city expects to maintain market stability, ensure consumer demand and support economic growth.
