These days, along Highway 57 (Cho Lach District, Ben Tre Province), gardeners are busy harvesting, packing and transporting thousands of flower pots and ornamental plants onto trucks for sale. Popular flowers such as yellow apricot, chrysanthemum, etc. and bonsai are carefully cared for to achieve the best quality before reaching customers.
People use three-wheeled vehicles or even motorbikes to put flowers on trucks to transport to provinces and cities such as Can Tho, An Giang, Ho Chi Minh City...
As a flower and ornamental garden owner, Mr. Nguyen Lam Duy (residing in Cho Lach district, Ben Tre province) said that at this time, gardeners take advantage of the opportunity to bring flowers and ornamental plants onto trucks to transport to Ho Chi Minh City for sale.
“Not only is it a business, the transportation and sale of ornamental flowers during Tet also has great cultural significance. Ornamental flowers not only beautify the living space but also symbolize luck, prosperity and reunion in the new year. Therefore, farmers like us try our best to bring every home the most beautiful flower pots.
Although the job of transporting flowers and ornamental plants during Tet is very hard, for me, it is also a joy to contribute to creating a colorful spring," said Mr. Duy.
As a truck driver, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet (living in Vinh Long province) said that since the 18th of the lunar calendar, he has been driving a truck through Cho Lach (Ben Tre province) to pick up ornamental flowers and transport them to Vinh Long province.
“Every day, I make two trips, transporting ornamental flowers to Vinh Long. The job of driving a truck transporting ornamental flowers plays an important role in the supply chain of ornamental flowers to the market,” Mr. Kiet informed.
Mr. Pham Anh Linh - Chairman of Cho Lach District People's Committee - said that Cho Lach flower village has a long and proud history of development. With love for the homeland, love for the profession, with their hands and minds, for over 100 years, the people here have diligently preserved and cultivated each flower and ornamental branch to enrich their homeland and beautify life.
Currently, Cho Lach district has more than 6,000 households specializing in growing flowers and ornamental plants. Of these, there are 2,500 members of the Ornamental Plants Association with more than 700 provincial-level artisans and 7 national-level artisans. The craft village has many artisans specializing in making ornamental flowers and animal-shaped bonsai products from various types of plants, which are very beautiful and considered "exclusive" products during Tet for the people here.
