16 contracts worth $286 million at Defense Exhibition

This afternoon (December 22), the Steering Committee of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 held a conference to summarize and commend the Exhibition.

At the conference, Major General Le Quang Tuyen - Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry (GDDI) - said that within the framework of the Exhibition, businesses throughout the army took advantage of the opportunity to exchange and work with foreign companies and businesses.

The Organizing Committee has ensured that military agencies, units and enterprises have more than 1,870 bilateral meetings and working sessions to listen to product introductions and discuss areas of interest.

On that basis, a number of potential areas of cooperation have been discussed by the two sides. Vietnam's defense industry has received many orders from foreign partners requesting to supply products such as: infantry guns; submunitions, mortars, artillery shells; economic ships; propellants - explosives used in the defense and civilian sectors; other economic products...

Units of the General Department of Defense Industry and the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group signed 16 contracts with a total value of about 286.3 million USD; signed 17 strategic cooperation agreements between Vietnam's defense industry and enterprises of countries with developed defense industries such as the US, India, France, and Belgium.

In addition to the main activities of the exhibition, the thematic seminar program took place over 4 days (the presentation and introduction contents in the seminar were also consulted by the General Department of Defense Industry and were accepted and adjusted according to the opinions of the competent agencies of the Ministry of National Defense) including 52 presentations on 2 main topics with 7 sessions:

December 19, 2024: 1 session with the theme "High-tech weapons and equipment; unmanned devices - Applications in current and future military operations".

From December 20, 2024 to December 22, 2024: 6 sessions, topic "Defense Industry Cooperation, Vietnam and other countries" (UK, USA, Russia, Japan, Korea, India);

The total number of participants during the conference days was about 2,500. Foreign speakers came from a number of countries such as the US, Türkiye, Italy, Singapore, UK, Korea, Japan, India, Russia, etc.

The Exhibition Organizing Committee said that the guests attending the seminar were delegates from domestic and international corporations and specialized enterprises; officers, soldiers, and students from agencies, units, and schools in the Ministry of National Defense. The presentations at the Exhibition attracted the attention of a large number of attendees with lively Q&A and discussion sessions.

At the workshop, Vietnamese officials and technical experts had the opportunity to listen to assessments and analyses of current development trends in weapons, combat technology equipment, design solutions, and upgrading of weapons and technical equipment... This is useful information, suggesting directions for research, development, and modernization of existing weapons and equipment for the Vietnam People's Army.

The Exhibition Organizing Committee also said that the exhibition events took place absolutely safely, and agencies and units strictly implemented plans and measures to ensure security and safety.

During the 4 days from December 19 to December 22, 2024, agencies and units mobilized nearly 10,000 officers, soldiers, and militia; organized 215 teams, checkpoints to guide traffic, patrol and guard; installed nearly 200 surveillance cameras in the entire area, and 20 UAV suppression positions.
