The ceremony was attended by over 80 government officials, lawmakers and assistants to the National Assembly, representatives of scholars, press and businesses of the United States such as Congressman Rick Larsen Congressman Ted Yoho, Special Assistant to President and Senior Director for Asia of the National Security Council Matt Pottinger, Vice President and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council Everett Eissenstat, Acting Assistant to Secretary of State Susan thornton, Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce James Fatheree, Vice President of the APEC National Center Alex Parle and US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Pham Quang Vinh assessed 2017 as a special year in the Vietnam - United States Comprehensive Partnership with two very important visits by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the United States (May 2017) and President Donald J. Trump to Vietnam and attend the APEC Summit (November 2017).
During both visits, both countries issued a joint statement affirming the Comprehensive Partnership and further promoting bilateral trade relations, strengthening strong relations in the fields of diplomacy, education, science and technology, national defense and security as well as closely cooperating in resolving regional issues and challenges.
Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh also sincerely thanked officials in the US government, Congress, scholars, press and businesses for their close cooperation with Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in the US in the past time, contributing significantly to the success of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Partnership as well as the APEC 2017 Summit.
Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of the National Security Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US National Assembly and other speakers highly appreciated the role, position and development policies of Vietnam, attaching importance to the partnership with Vietnam, accordingly, President Donald Trump chose Vietnam as the first destination in Southeast Asia as President, affirming that he will continue to promote the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries in all fields.
Representatives of agencies congratulated Vietnam for successfully organizing the APEC Summit, contributing significantly to the cooperation, development and prosperity of the APEC bloc as well as the whole region, and thanked the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States for its efforts and contributions to these successes, creating trust and prestige in the friendly community, from the government, the National Assembly to the people in the United States.
