On the morning of July 6, the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Ho Chi Minh City organized a ceremony to deploy the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains at Le Thi Rieng Park (Hoa Hung ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
Speaking to direct at the ceremony, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed that the Party and State always especially value the work of gratitude and caring for the lives of people with meritorious services to the revolution.
The Prime Minister emphasized: "The work of searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains is an important political task, reflecting the morality of'When drinking water, remember the source' and is the responsibility and feelings of today's generation".
According to Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, the search deployment at Le Thi Rieng Park is the result of many years of persistently collecting information and researching historical documents.
In particular, this process is supported by declassified military records and information provided by US organizations and veterans who fought in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister acknowledged and praised the efforts of the National Steering Committee, Military Region 7, Ho Chi Minh City and specialized agencies in analyzing and evaluating on a scientific basis, combining witness accounts with modern technology to zone collective grave areas. Those silent contributions have ignited hope for thousands of martyrs' families across the country.
To successfully complete the task, the Prime Minister requested the forces directly performing the task together with all levels and sectors to thoroughly grasp the three core requirements.
First, deploy methodical, scientific and cautious search work. The search must be carried out thoroughly with the highest sense of responsibility. The Prime Minister emphasized that each intact trace is an important clue to serve the identification of martyrs. At the same time, it is necessary to promote the application of DNA testing technology to accelerate progress.
Second, well implement verification and synchronous deployment. Forces need to focus on verifying and thoroughly exploring in the field area of Le Thi Rieng Park.
Third, systemically synthesize and analyze data. Ho Chi Minh City coordinates with the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 7 to urgently review and evaluate dossiers related to major battles, especially in the periods 1968 and 1972. Comparing documents with witness accounts will create a solid basis for organizing excavations in areas where there may still be martyrs' graves.

Before the spirits of the martyrs, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, on behalf of the Government, vowed to do his best to repay the noble sacrifices of the heroes for the longevity of the nation. The Prime Minister expressed his belief that the search results at Le Thi Rieng Park will become a motivation and a valuable experience to continue expanding the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains nationwide.
Concluding his speech, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung called on compatriots, soldiers nationwide, overseas Vietnamese and foreign veterans to continue to accompany and provide information, contributing to opening up more opportunities to find outstanding children of the Fatherland who have not yet been gathered.
