On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam awarded the First-class Labor Medal to Nhan Dan Newspaper, recognizing the newspaper's outstanding achievements in the cause of building socialism and protecting the Fatherland.
In his commemorative speech, Comrade Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association recalled the 75-year journey of formation and development of the newspaper since its first issue on March 11, 1951. He emphasized: "It is a glorious historical event because Nhan Dan is a mainstream political newspaper suggested by Uncle Ho to be named and born by decision of the second Party Congress in 1951".
According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Nhan Dan Newspaper has accompanied the country's important journeys, from the resistance war for national liberation, national reunification, the post-war reconstruction period to more than 40 years of Doi Moi and international integration. The newspaper not only reflects the flow of history but is also a forum for people to participate in social criticism, contributing to perfecting policies and promoting democracy.
Currently, along with Nhan Dan Daily publications, Nhan Dan Weekend, Nhan Dan Monthly, Thoi Nay publications and the multilingual Nhan Dan electronic system have formed a multimedia convergence editorial office model. In the digital transformation process, Nhan Dan Newspaper has continuously been in the group of central press agencies leading in digital transformation, with the motto "Where there is the People, there is Nhan Dan Newspaper".
Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, General Secretary To Lam praised the contributions of generations of people working for Nhan Dan Newspaper, affirming that in the past seven decades, the newspaper has always played the role of a sharp ideological weapon of the Party, an important information and propaganda medium and a reliable forum for cadres, party members and people.
Emphasizing the requirements in the new development stage, the General Secretary clearly stated: "Nhan Dan Newspaper must be a'blockbuster unit','shield','information sensor station' sharp, solid, quick-witted, and in-depth in grasping and providing, orienting information".
According to the General Secretary, the newspaper needs to adhere to its principles and purposes, promptly fight against fake news and toxic information, and at the same time spread positive values in society.
The General Secretary also emphasized that science, technology, innovation and digital transformation must become important driving forces for Nhan Dan Newspaper to develop multimedia and multi-platform journalism, gradually occupying the digital space and improving communication efficiency.
On behalf of the collective of people working for Nhan Dan Newspaper, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh affirmed that the General Secretary's directions are important orientations for the newspaper's development strategy in the coming time.
He said that the team of officials and reporters will continue to train political bravery, improve professional skills, and innovate journalistic methods to successfully complete the assigned tasks, worthy of the role of the Party's mouthpiece.
