On January 1, 2025, the People's Council of Vinh City, term XXII, 2021 - 2026, held the 16th session to perfect the organization of the local government apparatus after the arrangement of administrative units.
At the meeting, the Vinh City People's Council elected the Chairman of the People's Council, Vice Chairmen of the People's Council, Heads and Vice Heads of the Vinh City People's Council (new); reviewed the submission and voted on the resolution on the structure of the number of members of the Economic - Social Committee, the Legal Committee of the City People's Council (new); elected the Chairman of the People's Committee, Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee; approved the content on the consolidation of the organizational structure of the Vinh City People's Committee (new) on the basis of merging the original status of the Vinh City People's Committee and the People's Committee of Cua Lo town; elected members of the People's Committee and Jurors of the Vinh City People's Court (new).
With 100% of the delegates attending the meeting voting in favor, Mr. Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee - Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee was elected Chairman of the Vinh City People's Council (new) term XXII.
The delegates elected Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Cua Lo town (old), delegate of the People's Council of Vinh city (new) term XXII and Mr. Nguyen Tat Son - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Vinh city (old), delegate of the People's Council of Vinh city (new) term XXII to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Vinh city (new) term XXII, term 2021 - 2026.
The City People's Council elected Mr. Tran Ngoc Tu - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh City (old) to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh City (new).
Mr. Le Sy Chien - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee; Ms. Tran Thi Cam Tu - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Quang Tieu - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Cua Lo Town People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Sy Dieu - Member of the Vinh City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee; Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Member of the Vinh City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee were elected to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee (new).
Also at the meeting, Vinh City People's Council elected 12 members of the City People's Committee and 58 people's judges of Vinh City People's Court.
Previously, on December 31, Vinh city held a ceremony to announce the establishment of Vinh city (new), Vinh city Party Committee (new) and the decision of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on personnel work.
Vinh City (new) was established under Resolution No. 1243 dated October 24, 2024 of the National Assembly Standing Committee. Accordingly, the entire natural area and population of Cua Lo town and the entire natural area and population of the four communes of Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho, Nghi Thai and Nghi Phong of Nghi Loc district were merged into Vinh City. After the arrangement, Vinh City (new) has a natural area of 166.22 km2 and a population of 580,669 people.
Nghe An Provincial Party Committee has decided to establish the Vinh City Party Committee (new), appointing Mr. Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee - Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee to hold the position of Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee (new).
