On December 31, Vinh city held a ceremony to announce the establishment of Vinh city (new), Vinh city Party Committee (new) and the decision of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on personnel work.
At the ceremony, Director of the Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Viet Hung announced Resolution No. 1243 dated October 24, 2024 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Nghe An province for the period 2023 - 2025.
Accordingly, the entire natural area of 29.09 km2 and population of 77,813 people of Cua Lo town and the entire natural area and population of 4 communes of Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho, Nghi Thai and Nghi Phong of Nghi Loc district will be merged into Vinh city. After the arrangement, Vinh city (new) has a natural area of 166.22 km2 and a population of 580,669 people.
Vinh City established 4 new wards: Hung Dong, Hung Loc, Nghi Phu and Nghi Duc. At the same time, Vinh Tan ward was established on the basis of merging Hong Son ward and Vinh Tan ward (old); Quang Trung ward was established on the basis of merging 3 wards: Doi Cung, Le Mao, Quang Trung (old). After the arrangement, Vinh city has 33 commune-level administrative units, including 24 wards and 9 communes.
Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Le Van Linh announced the Decision of the Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee on the establishment of Vinh City Party Committee and the Decision of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on the appointment of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee.
According to the decision, the Vinh City Party Committee (new) was established on the basis of merging 77 grassroots Party organizations under the Vinh City Party Committee, 48 grassroots Party organizations under the Cua Lo Town Party Committee and 7 grassroots Party organizations under the Nghi Loc District Party Committee.
The Vinh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term after the merger has 132 subordinate Party grassroots organizations, with 31,238 Party members. The Vinh City Party Committee (new) officially came into operation on January 1, 2025. The Cua Lo Town Party Committee ceased its operation on December 31, 2024.
The Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee decided to appoint the Vinh City Party Executive Committee for the 2020-2025 term consisting of 65 members; the Vinh City Party Standing Committee for the 2020-2025 term consisting of 19 members.
The Provincial Party Standing Committee appointed Mr. Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee, Chairman of Vinh City People's Council to hold the position of Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee (new) for the 2020-2025 term.
Appoint Ms. Pham Thi Hong Toan - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Secretary of Cua Lo Town Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Lu - Standing Deputy Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee; Mr. Le Thanh Long - Standing Deputy Secretary of Cua Lo Town Party Committee; Mr. Tran Ngoc Tu - Deputy Secretary of City Party Committee, Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term.
