On January 28, according to the Ministry of Public Security's electronic information portal, Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations of traffic order and safety in the field of road traffic; deduction of points, restoration of driving license points, effective from January 1, 2025.
Penalties for alcohol concentration and driving license point deduction for motorcyclists
Accordingly, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, the penalty level and deduction of driving license points for drivers of motorbikes, mopeds, motorbike-like vehicles and moped-like vehicles violating road traffic rules are prescribed as follows:
Fine from 2,000,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND for drivers on the road with alcohol concentration in blood or breath not exceeding 50 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or not exceeding 0.25 milligrams/1 liter of breath. Deduct 04 driving license points.
Fine from 6,000,000 VND to 8,000,000 VND for drivers on the road with alcohol concentration in blood or breath exceeding 50 milligrams to 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeding 0.25 milligrams to 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath.Deduction of 10 driving license points.
Fine from 8,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND for drivers on the road with alcohol concentration in blood or breath exceeding 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeding 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath.Suspension of driving license from 22 to 24 months.
Penalties for alcohol concentration and driving license point deduction for car drivers
Pursuant to Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, the penalty level and deduction of driving license points for drivers of cars, four-wheeled motorized passenger vehicles, four-wheeled motorized cargo vehicles and similar vehicles violating road traffic rules are prescribed as follows: Fine from VND 6,000,000 to VND 8,000,000 for drivers on the road with a blood or breath alcohol concentration that does not exceed 50 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or does not exceed 0.25 milligrams/1 liter of breath.
Deduction of 04 driving license points.
Fine from 18,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND for drivers on the road with alcohol concentration in blood or breath exceeding 50 milligrams to 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeding 0.25 milligrams to 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath.Deduction of 10 driving license points.
Fine from 30,000,000 VND to 40,000,000 VND for drivers on the road with alcohol concentration in blood or breath exceeding 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeding 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath.Suspension of driving license from 22 months to 24 months.
