On July 18, the Government Office said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had just signed Official Telegram No. 69/CD-TTg on the case of 4 Vietnamese citizens dying in Bangkok, Thailand .
Official telegram sent to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Public Security; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Thailand.
The telegram stated that on July 16, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, Thai police discovered 6 people dead, including 4 Vietnamese citizens and 2 people of Vietnamese origin, suspected of having died. Due to poisoning , Thai authorities continue to investigate and clarify the case.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate closely with the Thai side in the process of investigating and clarifying the case, and implementing measures to protect the legal and legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.
At the same time, proactively handle and make recommendations on foreign affairs issues with the Thai side; promptly provide complete and objective information about the case to the press and public opinion.
The Ministry of Public Security coordinated to investigate and clarify the case at the request of the Thai side, providing information about the victims' relatives to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry out citizen protection work.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand directed the Embassy to closely monitor the case and promptly report on investigation developments and local public opinion; Implement citizen protection work, visit, guide and support victims' families with post-mortem related procedures according to regulations.
