The latest news on Khaosod's 6 bodies in Thailand said that Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced on the morning of July 17 that the FBI is sending a team to investigate the deaths of 2 out of 6 Vietnamese people found in a luxury hotel room in Bangkok because these two people have US passports.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha also said that he met with Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung on the evening of July 16 at the Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel, where the incident occurred, and pledged to conduct a thorough investigation.
Regarding the death of 6 Vietnamese people in Bangkok, including 2 Vietnamese Americans, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed his sincere condolences to the families for their loss. The US State Department said it is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to support the victims families.
According to Channel News Asia, Thai Home Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said that he did not believe that the discovery of 6 Vietnamese bodies in a hotel in Bangkok was the result of "any act of terrorism or any organized crime".
"This is very rare but has nothing to do with local people or any acts of violence," said Anutin Charnvirakul.
Anutin Minister of Home Affairs Charnveerakul called on public opinion not to make hasty conclusions about 6 Vietnamese people, including 2 Vietnamese-American people, who were found dead in a luxury hotel room in Bangkok as murdered or committed suicide.
"Maybe they have a certain mission," Anutin said. According to the Thai Minister of Home Affairs, we first need to wait for the police to work.
An unnamed Thai police official revealed that among the six dead, some were first-time Thailand visitors and some had been to Thailand several times.
Khaosod informed that at 1:00 a.m. on July 17, Thai police brought 8 baggage of the 6 deceased victims from the hotel room to Lumpini Police Station. The victims' luggage will be checked as potential evidence to determine the cause of death of the 6 individuals.
The Thai news site also noted that among the dead was Dinh Tran Phu, 36 years old, a famous makeup artist in Da Nang.
On the night of July 16, Thai police questioned 5 people related to the case of 6 Vietnamese bodies, 2 of whom were questioned with US passports, staying at a luxury hotel near Ratchaprasong intersection, Bangkok. A friend of the sister of one of the deceased victims was also questioned.
