On April 14, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense organized a conference to implement the Prime Minister's direction on supporting the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for people who are children of resistance activists infected with chemical toxins.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense - chaired the conference.
According to the report of the Chemical Corps, immediately after receiving the directing document of the Prime Minister and the Head of the Ministry of National Defense, the Chemical Corps proactively coordinated with relevant agencies and units to organize a nationwide review of subjects.
As of April 10, 2026, 12/34 provinces and cities have sent lists to the Vietnam Association of Agent Orange/dioxin Victims (Khanh Hoa, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Hanoi, Dong Nai, Quang Ninh, Ca Mau, Hai Phong, Lang Son and Hue); the general work continues to be accelerated, striving to be completed before April 19, 2026.
The Chemical Corps has also advised and proposed to the Ministry of National Defense to build and complete a system of documents to serve the program implementation, ensuring tightness, synchronization, and feasibility; At the same time, it acts as a focal point for coordination with ministries, branches, and localities in organizing implementation.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang acknowledged and praised the proactive and responsible spirit of the Chemical Corps and agencies and units in the initial implementation of the program, and emphasized that this is a political task of particular importance, deeply reflecting the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", the responsibility of the Party, State and Army towards families of people with meritorious services.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang requested agencies and units to continue to seriously grasp the Prime Minister's direction, focus on leading and directing drastically and synchronously, ensuring the completion of the Program on schedule and with quality, contributing to stabilizing people's lives and consolidating people's trust in the Party, State and Army.
To ensure the effective implementation of the program in the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang requested the Chemical Corps to continue to promote the role of the Standing Agency, proactively monitor, urge, synthesize the situation, and promptly advise the Head of the Ministry of National Defense to direct the handling of arising issues; closely coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs, localities and the Vietnam Association of Agent Orange/dioxin Victims to urgently complete the review and correct identification of subjects, ensuring publicity, transparency, and not letting subjects escape.
Agencies and units throughout the army urgently develop specific implementation plans; coordinate with Party committees and local authorities to urgently organize implementation, mobilize forces and means to support the construction and repair of houses for subjects, striving to complete the program soon.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang also directed the General Staff to mobilize maximum forces and means to participate; the General Department of Politics to promote propaganda and create widespread spread; the Department of Finance to preside over advising on mobilizing resources, striving to ensure the best level of support for housing construction and repair for subjects.
