National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife and the high-level Vietnamese delegation meet with Embassy officials and the Vietnamese community in Korea.

During the official visit to South Korea, on the afternoon of September 6 (local time), in Seoul, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, met with officials of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in South Korea.

After nearly 35 years of establishing diplomatic relations (December 22, 1992), Vietnam and South Korea have become reliable partners, cooperating at the strategic level and close friends, understanding each other. The upgrade of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in December 2022 is a historical milestone, opening up a vast space for cooperation in all fields.

Political trust is constantly strengthened; delegation exchanges, high-level contacts and levels take place regularly. Economic cooperation continues to be the main pillar in the relationship between the two countries. South Korea is currently Vietnam's largest FDI investor with a total accumulated value to June 2026 reaching 101 billion USD; ranked second in development and tourism cooperation with more than 5 million people exchanging in 2025; ranked third in trade cooperation with bilateral turnover reaching about 89 billion USD in 2025.

Defense and security cooperation develops substantively through many projects and specific cooperation agreements signed. Scientific and technological cooperation is identified as a new pillar in bilateral relations. Cooperation in labor, culture, tourism, and education is expanded.

People-to-people exchanges are maintained in many diverse and rich forms. Currently, there are nearly 400,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Korea and more than 200,000 Koreans in Vietnam.

This is the first visit to Korea by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in his capacity as head of the Vietnamese legislative body, and also the first visit of the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman to Korea after 5 years.

In particular, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was the first foreign guest of the new South Korean National Assembly Chairman Cho Jeong Sik.

The visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man aims to promote parliamentary diplomatic cooperation between Vietnam and Korea, contributing to creating breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment cooperation, especially promoting the effectiveness of the new pillar of scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries.
