According to the decisions, the Military Region 9 has 5 new provincial-level Military Commands after the merger, including: Can Tho City Military Command; Vinh Long Provincial Military Command, An Giang Provincial Military Command, Dong Thap Provincial Military Command and Ca Mau Provincial Military Command.
The ceremony also announced the decision to establish 5 Border Guard Command Committees under the Military Command of Can Tho City, the Military Command of Vinh Long Province, the Military Command of An Giang Province, the Military Command of Dong Thap Province, and the Military Command of Ca Mau Province; at the same time, announced the establishment of 19 regional defense command Committees under the Military Commands of provinces and cities.
