On June 17, the People's Committee of Rach Gia City (Kien Giang) announced the organization and operation of the administrative unit of Rach Gia Ward, Vinh Thong Ward in the new An Giang Province.
Implement Resolution No. 202/2025QH15 dated June 12, 2025 of the National Assembly on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units; Resolution No. 1654/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated June 16, 2025 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of An Giang province in 2025.
Accordingly, the entire natural area and population of Vinh Quang, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Thanh Van, Vinh Lac, An Hoa, An Binh, Vinh Hiep, Rach Soi and Vinh Loi wards will be arranged into a new ward called Rach Gia Ward, An Giang Province. Arrange the entire natural area and population of Vinh Thong ward, Phi Thong commune and My Lam commune (Hon Dat district) into a new ward called Vinh Thong ward, An Giang province.
In order to prepare well for the operation of ward-level administrative units on July 1, 2025, the People's Committee of Rach Gia City informs organizations and individuals in Rach Gia and Vinh Thong wards to contact and carry out the work.
Regarding the Public Administration Center, for the new Rach Gia ward, the address is at 38 Le Phung, Vinh Thanh Van ward (old Rach Gia City People's Committee). For Vinh Thong ward, the main address is 1534 street 30.4, Vinh Thong ward (old Vinh Thong ward People's Committee); Sub- Location is 720 street 30.4, Phi Thong ward (old Phi Thong commune People's Committee); Sub- Location is Tan Dien hamlet, My Lam commune, Hon Dat district (old My Lam commune People's Committee).
The People's Committee of Rach Gia City recommends that units, organizations and enterprises located in the two wards proactively adjust the locations on signs, billboards, decorative light boards, headquarters lists of agencies... located in the area in accordance with administrative boundaries, completion time before July 1, 2025.
After the merger, the new An Giang province has a total of 102 new commune-level administrative units (85 communes, 14 wards, 3 special zones), a decrease of 196 commune-level administrative units compared to before the arrangement (reaching 65.77%). Of which, Rach Gia ward has a population of 250,661 people, the most populous ward in the country.
