On the morning of August 25, Da Nang City People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Le Thanh Nghi - Cach Mang Thang Tam - Thang Long traffic intersection cluster project - the access road to Hoa Xuan bridge and the Integrated Adaptive Development Project of Quang Nam province, now belonging to Da Nang City.
Politburo member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
The two projects have a total investment of nearly 4,300 billion VND, focusing on solving bottlenecks in traffic, flood drainage, infrastructure connection and increasing adaptability to natural disasters after Da Nang expands its administrative boundaries.
In which, Hoa Xuan intersection cluster has a total investment of more than 1,571 billion VND, implemented in the period 2025-2029. The project to build an elevated intersection includes an underpass on Cach Mang Thang Tam and Thang Long streets; expand Le Thanh Nghi street; build a new bridge parallel to the existing Hoa Xuan bridge along with the service road system and technical infrastructure.
The project is expected to solve the congestion situation at one of the important traffic gateways in the South of Da Nang City, and at the same time improve the connectivity between urban areas on both sides of the Cam Le River.
The Adaptive Integrated Development Project has a total investment of more than 2,722 billion VND, of which ODA loans from the World Bank are about 1,838 billion VND.
The project includes dredging about 60km of the Truong Giang River from Cua Dai to Cua Lo; building a complex of flood drainage works in Tam Ky area and 6 new bridges across the Truong Giang River and a restored civil bridge.
When completed, the project is expected to improve flood drainage capacity, reduce flooding in Tam Ky area, improve waterway traffic and increase connectivity between the southern areas of the city. Notably, along with the Han River and Co Co River, the Truong Giang River can form a smooth inland waterway corridor from Cua Han to Cua Lo, creating more space for tourism and trade development.
Representatives of the investor said that the construction process of Hoa Xuan intersection cluster will pay special attention to traffic safety, limiting the impact on people's travel; with adaptive projects, environmental and social requirements and commitments to sponsors must be strictly implemented.
