On June 1, Politburo Member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc - Chairman of the Amnesty Advisory Council, attended the ceremony to announce the President's 2026 Amnesty Decision to grant early release to more than 200 prisoners at Thanh Xuan prison.
Based on the proposal of the Amnesty Advisory Council, on May 26, 2026, the President signed Decision No. 751/QD-CTN on amnesty, early release for 9,950 prisoners, of which Thanh Xuan prison had 202 prisoners granted amnesty this time.
At the ceremony, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc stated clearly that to be granted special amnesty by the President, all prisoners have equal opportunities, regardless of gender, religion, nationality, age, occupation, criminal behavior... as long as they meet the conditions and are eligible according to the provisions of law and the President's decision, they will be considered and proposed for special amnesty.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the prisoners at detention facilities nationwide in general as well as Thanh Xuan prison in particular who were granted amnesty this time.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister shared that amnesty is only the beginning of the path to goodness, ahead, those granted amnesty still face many difficulties and challenges. Besides, there is the temptation, enticement, incitement, and even threat of bad people and evil spirits.
But with what he has learned, worked, and improved in prison, the Standing Deputy Prime Minister believes that those who are granted amnesty will overcome all difficulties and challenges to be more confident and steadfast in life, truly become honest people, build a stable economic life, a warm and happy family, and resolutely not re-offend.
Prisoners who have not been granted amnesty this time need to continue to make more efforts, strictly comply with prison regulations, actively study, work, and reform to soon be eligible to enjoy the leniency of the Party and State.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister said that the results of special amnesty and early release for prisoners affirm the efforts of each prisoner, and at the same time affirm the efforts of leaders, commanders and officers and soldiers of the prison management force, including Thanh Xuan prison.
The teachers in the special education environment have cared for and taught the special students with all their love and responsibility.
On behalf of the Government leaders and the Amnesty Advisory Council, the Standing Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged, highly appreciated and praised the achievements of officers and soldiers of the Police Department for Prison Management, Compulsory Education Institutions, and Reformatory Schools (C10).
In the coming time, officers and soldiers of Department C10 need to continue to promote and achieve more achievements in performing the task of managing and educating prisoners, building a clean, strong and comprehensively developed unit.
Levels, sectors, social organizations, businesses, individuals and families need to open their arms to those who have been granted amnesty and return; not to discriminate, create the most favorable conditions for those who have been granted amnesty to quickly reintegrate into the community, join hands to build a prosperous and happy life, stay away from crime and law violations.
