According to VNA, news from the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Cadres' Health said that General Nguyen Quyet, born in 1922, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, after a period of illness, despite the Party, State, professors and doctors' devoted treatment and the wholehearted care of his family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 9:09 p.m. on December 23, 2024 at the 108 Central Military Hospital.
The Visitation, Memorial Service, and Funeral of General Nguyen Quyet will be announced later.
General Nguyen Quyet was born in 1922, his hometown is Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province. Joining the revolution, at the age of 18, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party; at the age of 23, he became Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, directly leading the people of Hanoi to rise up, successfully carrying out the general uprising to seize power, making a very important contribution to the success of the August Revolution, contributing to the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
With his outstanding achievements and contributions, General Nguyen Quyet has been awarded many noble prizes by the Party and State, such as: Gold Star Order; Ho Chi Minh Order; First and Third Class Military Exploit Orders; First Class Feat of Arms Order; First Class Victory Order; two First Class Resistance Medals against France and America; Victory Flag Medal... and many other noble prizes awarded by the Party, State and international friends.
In early 2024, General Nguyen Quyet received the 85-year Party membership badge. At that ceremony, General Nguyen Quyet wished that each cadre and party member would uphold the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, and unity to build a truly clean and strong Party, and build the country and the Vietnam People's Army to develop even stronger.
