Bringing Cu Lao Pho to the new era
Reporter: Sir, what is the historical position and role of Cu Lao Pho in the lives of Bien Hoa people in particular and Dong Nai people in general? How has Dong Nai province paid attention to the development planning and vision for this land?
Mr. Vo Tan Duc: Cu Lao Pho has a total area of nearly 700 hectares, located at the gateway of Bien Hoa city, surrounded by Dong Nai and Cai rivers. This is a land with many historical imprints of people carrying swords to open up the Southern land, a land where many cultures and religions intersect; it was also the place with the busiest trading port in the Southern land hundreds of years ago.
However, during the development process, Cu Lao Pho has lost its position, becoming a “sleeping” land in the heart of Bien Hoa city – a land of about 325 years of formation and development. This historical land needs to be awakened, its potential aroused, and it needs to rise in the new era.
With those values and potentials, Cu Lao Pho has always received special attention from the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Dong Nai province in the development process with the goal of turning this place into a highlight area of Bien Hoa city, the central urban area of Dong Nai province.
The A4 subdivision planning, Hiep Hoa ward, Bien Hoa city, approved by the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, is an important foundation for developing the "golden" land of Cu Lao Pho into an important highlight of Bien Hoa urban space - the urban center of Dong Nai province, becoming a green - beautiful - poetic urban area.
Worthy of being the central urban area of Dong Nai province
Reporter: To realize the project of turning Cu Lao Pho into a modern urban area, the "green lung" of Bien Hoa city and worthy of being a central urban area, how has Dong Nai province implemented it, sir?
Mr. Vo Tan Duc: To awaken the potential and advantages of Cu Lao Pho in Hiep Hoa ward, Bien Hoa city today, from the beginning of 2025, the project of Trade Center and Office for lease in Hiep Hoa ward has been started.
This is one of the key projects and works of Dong Nai province, a large-scale commercial center project, with an area of 11.66 hectares, a total construction floor area of up to 24.5 hectares, a total project investment of over 6,111 billion VND, expected to welcome about 10 million visitors/year; with a supply chain of high-end products from famous brands, along with international standard services for customers to easily experience.
The project, once completed, is expected to be a highlight of the area's landscape architecture, an attractive destination attracting tourists to visit, shop, and experience, gradually contributing to changing the appearance and elevating the urban space and landscape architecture of Cu Lao Pho.
The launching ceremony of the Commercial Center and Office for Lease project in Hiep Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City also showed that this is a land full of potential and advantages that not every place has; needs to be awakened, needs to arouse new vitality; with the belief and aspiration to rise up to be worthy of the position and stature of the land of Cu Lao Pho in the past.
In addition to the project of the Trade Center and Office for Lease in Hiep Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City, the Hiep Hoa Urban Area project is also being implemented. This is the first project in Dong Nai province to select investors according to the provisions of the law on bidding and investment on the basis of the Resolution of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Council approving the list of land acquisition projects to implement projects for the purpose of socio-economic development according to the provisions of law.
With the goal and positive meaning, contributing to changing the face, creating a model urban area with a synchronous ecosystem, so that not only the people of Bien Hoa City in particular but also the people of Dong Nai Province and neighboring provinces will be able to live and experience quality services, improve the spiritual life of the community, change the appearance of Bien Hoa City - worthy of the position and inherent potential of the land, contributing to bringing Bien Hoa City in particular, and Dong Nai Province in general into "a new era, an era of national growth".

Hiep Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City is planned to include 5 main functional zones including: regional cultural center; Hiep Hoa Islet cultural and ecological park; indigenous architectural works, historical, cultural, religious and belief relics, ancient cultural and architectural complexes; ecological green rows along Dong Nai River, Cai River, canals, etc.; existing residential areas to be renovated and newly built.
