On September 8, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, chaired a working session with a number of agencies and units on the direction of research, manufacture, and production of main battle tanks, in order to gradually improve autonomy capacity and meet the requirements of building the Army in the new situation, according to the e-Portal of the Ministry of National Defense.
At the working session, agencies and units reported and exchanged views on the requirements and orientations for researching, designing, and manufacturing main battle tanks to serve training and combat readiness missions; focusing on clarifying the requirements for technical features, mobility, integration of systems, equipment, and exploitation and use plans.
Accordingly, the vehicle is oriented to be designed synchronously, modernly, integrating advanced technologies in power, control, electronics, communication, improving mobility, protection capability and operational efficiency in combat; and at the same time ensuring convenience in operation, use, maintenance, and repair, suitable to the actual conditions of units.
Delegates also proposed solutions to improve the design, ensuring harmony between tactical and technical requirements and domestic research and manufacturing capabilities; focusing on the synchronicity of products, the ability to master technology, ensuring technical and development and upgrade capabilities in the process of exploitation and use.
Concluding, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam emphasized that the research and manufacture of tanks and armored vehicles is one of the directions contributing to building a proactive, self-reliant, self-strengthening, and dual-use defense industry; gradually improving the autonomy of weapons and technical equipment, meeting the requirements of building a modern Army.
Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam requested agencies and units to fully absorb the opinions at the working session, continue to research and improve orientations and implementation solutions; promote the spirit of proactiveness and creativity, promote research, master technology, and gradually form the capacity to design, manufacture, and produce main battle tanks.
At the same time, strengthen coordination between management agencies, research facilities, factories and user units, ensuring that products meet task requirements, are practical, convenient in exploitation, technically guaranteed and have the ability to develop and upgrade in the future.
