According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the annual event taking place on May 9 will mark the 81st anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. This is one of the most important holidays in Russia, when veterans gather with medals on their chests, along with many commemorative activities, documentaries and wartime music.
However, this year there will be no military convoy parading through Red Square. Instead, the parade blocks will include soldiers from high-level military training facilities and various armed forces.
Some training facilities will not participate and no equipment formations will appear in the parade. The program's content focuses on honoring the contributions of soldiers from many forces participating in the military campaign that the Kremlin calls a "special military operation".
The forces mentioned include the Strategic Missile Forces, Aerospace Forces and naval sailors. Military aircraft will perform a demonstration flight and create the Russian national flag in 3 colors: white, blue, and red at the end of the ceremony.
In the context of the conflict with Ukraine lasting more than 4 years, Russian forces continue to advance in the eastern region. The Russian Ministry of Defense regularly announces control of more areas, while negotiations mediated by the US are still stalled.
Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed the goal of controlling the entire Donbas region, including Donetsk and Lugansk, while Ukraine denied the possibility of withdrawing from the controlled areas.
